Bonded T1 Provider
Why A Business May Consider A Bonded T1 Line
A T1 line is most commonly used in business where data or voice transmission are critical to the business operations. The T1 line can provide data transfer speeds of up to 1.54 Mbps. This line may also carry up to 24 voice channels and be used for as many as 24 separate telephone lines. However, due to growth or a change in operations businesses may need more bandwidth or voice lines than a single T1 service can provide. However, the the most readily available upgrade from T1 is usually a T3 line. This is where a bonded T1 line can fulfill the needs of the business while maintaining expenses at a manageable level.
Perhaps the biggest problem faced by businesses which have increased bandwidth needs is the wide gap between the single T1 service and that of the most readily available upgrade, the T3. The standard T1 line transmits and receives at 1.54 Mbps, while the T3 reaches speeds of up to 45 Mbps. A business with more needs than a T1 may well not be able to use the capabilities of the more powerful T3 service enough to justify the expense. This is where a bonded T1 service can fill in the gap and reduce expenses.
A bonded T1 connects multiple T1 lines so they operate as a single more powerful line would. The capacity of the single T1 is increased each time a new T1 is bonded so that two of these lines would be capable of rates up to 3 Mbps and three bonded lines would have the transfer capabilities of up to 4.5 Mbps. The increased capacity results in bandwidth scaled to meet the customer needs without the expense of an upgrade that the company might not be ready for yet.
The term bonding is an industry acronym for Bandwidth on Demand Interoperability Group. Bandwidth on demand refers to the ability to increase the available bandwidth as needs grow simply by adding another T1 line to the group. The term interoperability refers to their ability to act as one circuit and not multiple separate lines.
A business such as a call center which deals with a large numbers of phone calls simultaneously, may choose a bonded line. These lines may well be used to transfer very high quality audio or video files which will not fit in a single T1. Businesses with multiple uses such as calling, data transfer and internet may bond multiple lines to increase the service capacity.
The location of a business is of less concern as for T1 services than for DSL or cable data services. While DSL signals degrade the further they are from the central office, T1 signals can be refreshed as often as necessary. This makes T1 service practical for locations where other services are unavailable or impractical.
Cost factors into most business decisions and this includes when a business expands due to growth. The bonded T1 can keep the expenses down for a company while still allowing for increased data transfer or voice capabilities. Bonded T1 service can be made available to even persons in rural areas. The scalability of bonding allows businesses to grow at their own rate and add more lines as their businesses expand.
